East Kalimantan Has Received 20.9 Million Dollars from Sales of Carbon

KORANKALTIM.COM, BALIKPAPAN  – Until now, East Kalimantan has received around 20.9 million dollars, equivalent to IDR 320 billion, from selling carbon to Europe.
This was conveyed by the Governor of East Kalimantan, Isran Noor, at the event The Economic Value of Carbon (NEK) and the forest and land-based Green House Gas (GHG) emission reduction program which took place at the Novotel Hotel, Balikpapan, Tuesday (29/8/2023) this morning.

According to Isran, this amount of money is the realization of the first stage and there will be a second stage. "When the evaluation results are complete, they will be conveyed to the beneficiary communities. We also help prepare technical regulations to help regulate technical details related to this carbon and its development," said Isran.

Apart from that, in the carbon sale conducted by East Kalimantan, there are already those who are interested, namely companies from Europe and he plans to meet on September 4 next month. "Many are interested, the price is not 5 dollars but 30 dollars to 45 dollars per ton," explained Isran.

For this NEK activity, Isran welcomed it. "Hopefully this activity will produce ideas and produce workshops that are simple to implement," said Isran again.

Green investment has been underway for a long time on the Etam Continent and currently only improvements are needed. East Kalimantan is hosting the activity for the reason of maintaining current achievements so that their quality does not decline.
